DESCRIPTION:Right up there with my love for music (think U2\, The Church\, Counting Crows\, Lloyd Cole\, Colin Hay\, Gin Blossoms\, etc)\, is my love for comedy. When I’m not playing or writing music (or watching Barney or going to the park with my adorable and persuasive little girl)\, I love watching or listening to standups like George Carlin\, Steven Wright\, and Frank Caliendo and watching shows such as Arrested Development\, 30 Rock\, Bored to Death etc. I’m partial to doing the odd impression and I’d like to think if I wasn’t a musician\, I’d be involved in comedy in some way\, shape or form (job security is pretty important to me). \nWhen it comes to my music\, I naturally write melodic pop/rock songs. Mostly I simply hear a tune in my head and will have to sit down at the guitar (and less frequently the piano) to figure out what it is I’m hearing. Likewise\, I often feel my lyrics are sent from somewhere else and yet they usually seem to reflect what’s been happening for me in recent times – or\, strangely\, sometimes seem to speak of a future I’ve not yet reached. As time goes on\, my lyrics seem to mirror my personal preoccupation with transcending the trappings of the mind\, living in the present moment\, and reinvention. \nI count myself lucky to have been a musician pretty much since I was 17 and decided to busk (perform free in the street) in a busy mall in the city of Perth where I grew up and still base myself some of the year. When I’m not there\, I’m either on the road in Australia or in North America\, which is now my second home. \nI’ve been fortunate enough to open up for an eclectic mix of Australian\, UK and US acts (from The Black Crowes to The Church’s Marty Willson-Piper\, Jimmy Barnes\, Kasey Chambers\, Sia and Youth Group amongst others) and have played at international festivals SXSW\, CMJ and Canadian Music Week. \nSome of my songs have been on hit TV shows Gossip Girl and Flash Forward and my old band The Woodenelves was on Australian TV show ROVE Live in an episode that featured U2. \nIn 2013\, I spent 3 months in Nashville\, Tennessee after being awarded a grant from the Australian Federal Government through the Australia Council for the Arts to live\, write\, and record there. While there I recorded my new EP\, It’s Just You\, with iconic Australian producer Mark Moffatt (Keith Urban\, Stacey Earle\, Tony Joe White and the Divinyls\, Yothu Yindi\, Mondo Rock\, etc). \n

DESCRIPTION:Matt Valensi is a musician from Dunsborough who crafts nostalgic pop tunes with echoing guitar loops\, sugary melodies and vivid lyrical imagery.  \nValensi’s music shows glimpses of laidback tunesmiths Mac Demarco and Beck blended with the hypnotic crescendos of artists like Tash Sultana or Kurt Vile. His vocals channel the smooth drawl of Julian Casablancas and Lou Reed with a little Elvis Costello-style pep. Armed with a swag of guitars and his trusty loop pedal Valensi’s live shows have an immediacy and warmth that is addictively alluring and dreamy.  \nValensi honed his sound as the frontman of Perth indie band The Prevues before moving to the coastal paradise of Dunsborough in Australia’s south west to surf\, write and soak in the crisp coastal air. During his time with The Prevues\, Valensi played alongside some of Perth’s top indie bands including Rainy Day Women\, The Autumn Isles and The Morning Night. Here he received accolades for his “catchy-as-hell songs and captivating stage presence” (Xpress Magazine).  \nThe Prevues first single Teenage Love was featured on RAGE and RTRFM and also as single of the week in Xpress Magazine. As a solo artist he has traded in his indie rock sound for a more intimate aesthetic suited to his new lifestyle in the south west.  \nIn May 2017\, after playing guitar alongside Luke Fox at the Groovin The Moo Festival\, Valensi released his first two songs as a solo artist. A rollicking guitar pop daydream titled Rolling Blackouts Forever and a cover of the Ronnettes’ 1964 hit Be My Baby. Blackouts features reverb washed angular guitars over brooding vocals and some tinkling tambourine thrown in for good measure. The song’s fractured dance rhythms and use of the classic ‘Velvet Underground strum’ create a memorable landscape with a less is more ethos. Be My Baby is a nostalgic\, hazy tribute to the Doo-wop era with jangly guitars and cave dwelling harmonies. \nValensi has been playing a number of intimate shows around the south west as well as some special guest appearances in Perth. \n

DESCRIPTION:Dallas Royal are four young guys hailing from the sunny southwest corner of Regional Western Australia in Dunsborough. After releasing their debut EP ‘She Said’ in early 2012 Dallas Royal gained a slot at Groovin’ The Moo 2012\, a major Australian Festival.\nDallas Royal played alongside acts such as Mutemath\, City and Colour\, Parkway Drive\, San Sisco\, Kimbra\, Public Enemy\, 360 and many more. After a bunch of shows up and down Western Australia’s Coast they then recorded another single entitled ‘Thrash Belted Jackson’. Dallas Royal were invited to get back on the festival stage for the second time at Parklife (Listen Out Festival) Perth 2012.\nIn 2013 Dallas Royal played a massive variety of shows in Regional\, Metro and surrounding areas\, creating atmosphere everywhere they went. Towards late 2013 Dallas Royal were lucky enough to be asked to play with well known WA legends Jebediah in one of their only showings for that particular year!\nDallas Royal started off 2014 in good form with numerous headline shows around WA and were recently selected as one of just 9 artists for ‘The Sounds Of The Southwest’ album project. The Band quickly formed some great creative networking platforms\, and were fortunate to meet some incredible people with great advice and ideas. Dallas Royal even received a huge thumbs up from legendary international music supervisor PJ Bloom (Game of Thrones\, Glee\, American Horror Story). \nDallas Royal recorded their latest track ‘Swingers’ with Noah Shilkin (producer) at Sonic Lolly Studios Margaret River which is featured on the ‘Sounds Of The Southwest’ Album.\nThe song is currently gaining National and International attention and the boys are working on various projects to follow in 2014\, including work with adultswim.com.au. Dallas Royal have got a number of great shows booked for the coming months of 2014 and will be releasing a number of great new songs. \n
