Come down at Caves House for one epic Sunday Session during Easter long week end!
This year we are pleased to host The Kava Kings, Dulcie and Great Gable – Live from 4pm!
**THE KAVA KINGS**
The Kava Kings’ are a collection of salty haired boys from south of Sydney. They embody the sound and lifestyle of the beaches and will make you delirious with their crunchy coastal tunes.
The boys have shared the stage with Aussie favourites such as John Butler, Ocean Alley, Winston Surfshirt, The Rubens, Eskimo Joe, Lime Cordiale and Birds of Tokyo as well as international acts such as Ozomatli (USA) and The Skatalites (Jamaica).
Seeing a song in the exact same colour is not an unusual experience for brothers Tommy and Chris. This unusual phenomenon adds a new dimension to the music coming out of this Southern Beaches band. Tommy and Chris grew up in sync, creating the bands sound based on a shared experience of music.
In 2017 and 2018 the boys ditched their van and headed across the seas to embark on two European tours. They brought their explosive live show to audiences in Italy, Austria, France, The UK, and Surfana Festival in the Netherlands, representing Sydney’s finest on the world stage.
2018 will be a big year for The Kava Kings as they gear up to release their newest EP, which they’ve been working on with engineer and producer Joel Quartermain (Eskimo Joe). If you ask the Smithson brothers, to describe their latest track ‘Friends’, they’ll tell you they see it in shades of green. however if your not a synesthetic, you could say ‘Friends’ explores the experience of growing up and the all too familiar notion of drifting apart from the ones we thought we’d always have. The boys describe the new direction they are heading in as a step away from their roots and a move towards incorporating more rock and electronic elements.
Formed in mid-2018, Dulcie are a 4-piece indie-pop girl band from Perth, Western Australia. Their mesmerising harmonies, smooth melodic layers, beautiful arrangements and driving rhythms set the foundation for the creation of songs like ‘Fall’, their debut single released in January 2019. Ashleigh Carr-White (keys and vocals), Saskia Brittain (guitar and vocals), Timieka Denton (bass and vocals) and Madison Hanley (drums) collaborate to write songs performed by any of the three vocalists. Dulcie have found fast success in the Perth music scene gigging heavily and supporting acts such as Mosquito Coast, Spacey Jane, Winterbourne, Demon Days, Riley Pearce and Great Gable, who they supported on their 2019 ‘Cool Mind Blue’ national tour.
Great Gable (Alex Whiteman, Matt Preen, Callum Guy & Chris Bye) are a Perth based band originally from the South-West of Western Australia, combining a wide range of influences to bring a subtle twist on the alternative-indie sound.
They had a massive year in 2018 which saw them release new music, sell out two national tours and sign to 123 Agency. They’re not slowing down in 2019 with a brand new single ‘Cool Mind Blue’ and their biggest national tour to date.
A recent live review from XPress Magazine called them “One of WA’s premier upcoming bands; their music is simple yet layered so cleverly that it punches you in the throat whilst still holding your hand. 9/10.”
They have supported the likes of Jungle Giants, The Jezebels and most recently Ocean Alley which saw another rave review stating, “If you haven’t heard of them before, reprioritise your day because with the quality of their music it’s only a matter of time until they’ll be selling out their own gigs at venues as iconic as Metropolis.”
